On Friday, October 3, Fredonia Junior/Senior High School hosted a Renaissance Rally—a high-energy, school-wide celebration recognizing students and staff for their achievements, character, and school pride.
Much like an athletic pep rally, a Renaissance Rally channels excitement and unity throughout the school, but the spotlight shines on academic achievement, positive behavior, and kindness. The Jostens Renaissance program helps build a positive school culture where every student and staff member feels valued and appreciated for their contributions.
During the rally, several students and staff were recognized with B.E.S.T. Awards (Be Respectful, Encourage Others, Show Responsibility, and Take Pride) and additional honors celebrating growth, leadership, and positive impact across campus.
Recipients of the awards, from left to right, are:
Stay Gold Award: Vicki Starr – FJSHS Resource Teacher
Teacher of the Month: Maddison Cochran – FJSHS English Teacher
Growth Award: Dylan Hendrix – 7th Grade
Student of the Month: Abrielle Baker – 8th Grade
Making a Difference Award: Rylie Reynolds – Sophomore
Growth Award: Jax Gile – Junior
Stay Gold Award: Brayden O’Leary – Senior
Making a Difference Award: Deb Evans – FJSHS Academic Advocate
Staff Member of the Month: Shelly Appelhans – FJSHS Secretary
Fredonia is proud of these individuals for their dedication, positive attitudes, and daily contributions that make FJSHS a great place to learn and grow. Congratulations to all honorees for representing the B.E.S.T. of Fredonia and showing what it truly means to be a Yellowjacket!

Fredonia’s Women’s golfer is back on the course this afternoon, taking on the greens at Garnett Country Club! The action starts at 1:00 PM as Kennedy looks to keep her season going strong and post some low scores today!

The long-standing rivalry between Fredonia and Neodesha always delivers intensity, energy, and school spirit on both sides of the court. For the Jackets, it’s about proving their grit, showcasing teamwork, and leaving everything they’ve got in pursuit of victory.
