Fredonia Junior High FCCLA Shines with “No Dyes, No Doubt!”

Fredonia Junior High FCCLA members Adalynn Schultz and Luna Svaty are turning awareness into action through their STAR Event project, “No Dyes, No Doubt!” — a creative and heartfelt initiative focused on how artificial dyes can affect student behavior.

As part of their mission to educate and inspire, Adalynn and Luna participated in the annual Trick-or-Treat event around Fredonia’s town square for ELC and Lincoln students, handing out dye-free candy to ensure every child could enjoy the fun safely and inclusively. They went a step further by preparing special dye-free bags for teachers at both schools, providing classroom alternatives for students who need dye-free options.

Their thoughtful project captures the true spirit of FCCLA — leadership, service, and making a positive impact. Through “No Dyes, No Doubt!”, these young leaders are showing that small acts of care and awareness can make a big difference in promoting health, inclusion, and kindness across our community!

Teen Driving & Bus Safety Project

Fredonia High School students Braelyn Guiou, Dakota Jones, and Lily Thurlow are currently working on a project focused on teen driving safety, emphasizing the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel.

Their project explores key issues such as the dangers of speeding, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt—all common risks faced by young drivers. The group’s goal is to raise awareness among their peers and help encourage safer driving habits across the community.

In addition to their focus on driving, the partners created a Bus Safety Poster to remind both teens and adults about the importance of following school bus laws. They’ve noticed that many people don’t always pay close attention to school buses or fully understand the rules for stopping and passing. The poster also includes safety tips for students who ride the bus, since not all teens drive yet, helping ensure everyone stays safe during their daily travels.
