Sign-Ups Open for Fredonia Unified Esports Team
It’s time to gear up for another season of Unified Esports at Fredonia Junior/Senior High School!
In partnership with Special Olympics Unified Sports, Fredonia’s Unified Esports Team brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to compete side by side in online gaming. The program promotes inclusion, friendship, and teamwork—showing how connection and respect can grow through shared competition.
Practices and gaming sessions will begin after Thanksgiving Break, and interested students are encouraged to sign up now to become a Unified Partner. Participants must meet school eligibility requirements and bring a positive attitude and teamwork mindset to every match.
Students can learn more or sign up by contacting Mrs. Starr ustarr@fredoniaks.com or Mrs. Baker bbaker@fredoniaks.com
Fredonia’s Unified Esports Team continues to build a culture of inclusion and school pride—proving once again that students can game together, grow together, and compete unified.

It’s World Interact Week!
Fredonia students are celebrating World Interact Week with themed spirit dress-up days, promoting service, kindness, and school pride!
Each day this week highlights a new theme — from “Service Above Self” and “Warm Hearts, Cool Hands” to “Yellowjackets Serve Boldly” and the “Class Color Competition.” Students are encouraged to show their Fredonia pride, spread positivity, and support inclusion throughout the week.
The class with the most participation wins Sonic drinks, courtesy of Interact!
This exciting week is brought to you by Fredonia’s Rotary through Rotary Interact, encouraging students to take action, build community, and celebrate what it means to serve others.
Let’s make Fredonia shine through service, inclusion, and spirit!

Weekly Calendar
November 3-9

Fredonia High School students Braelyn Guiou, Dakota Jones, and Lily Thurlow are currently working on a project focused on teen driving safety, emphasizing the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel.
Their project explores key issues such as the dangers of speeding, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt—all common risks faced by young drivers. The group’s goal is to raise awareness among their peers and help encourage safer driving habits across the community.
In addition to their focus on driving, the partners created a Bus Safety Poster to remind both teens and adults about the importance of following school bus laws. They’ve noticed that many people don’t always pay close attention to school buses or fully understand the rules for stopping and passing. The poster also includes safety tips for students who ride the bus, since not all teens drive yet, helping ensure everyone stays safe during their daily travels.

Winter sports season is almost here — and that means it’s time for Winter Sports Parent Night!
In just one week, we’ll be hosting an in-person ONLY evening designed to strengthen communication and connection between our coaches and parents. This year’s format encourages real conversations and collaboration, helping set the stage for a successful and positive season.
Parents will join their child’s coach for sport-specific breakout sessions filled with key details — including program expectations, schedules, communication plans, and season goals. It’s a great opportunity to meet the coaching staff, ask questions, and ensure everyone is ready to kick off the season with energy and unity.
Let’s make this winter one to remember — see you at Winter Sports Parent Night!

Schedule Change: Thursday Night Football!
Our Fredonia Yellowjackets are back under the lights — but take note, there’s a change to the schedule!
Fredonia will face off against the Bluestem Lions tomorrow, Thursday, October 30, with kickoff set for 6:00 PM.

Our talented junior high musicians and vocalists have been hard at work preparing an evening full of music and harmony. From upbeat band performances to beautiful choral pieces, the concert will showcase the growth of our young performers.
Come out and support our students as they share their love of music and celebrate the sounds of the season. Admission is free—bring your family and friends for an inspiring night of melodies!

Huge congratulations to Hayden Harding!
Hayden raced to an impressive 9th place finish at Saturday’s Regional Cross Country Meet in Neodesha, earning his spot at the State Cross Country Championships! He’ll represent Fredonia High School next Saturday at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, competing against the best runners from across Kansas.
Despite the challenging conditions, the rest of the Fredonia team ran strong and represented our school with pride and determination. Their effort and teamwork showcased what it means to be a Yellowjacket — tough, focused, and full of heart.
Way to go, Jackets!

JV Football Game Canceled
Tomorrow night’s scheduled JV football game between Fredonia and Cherryvale has been canceled due to low numbers from both squads.
While we’re disappointed our Jackets won’t take the field, we appreciate the continued effort and dedication from our players and coaches throughout the season.

Jacket Updates
October 13-18

On Wednesday, October 15, our Special Olympics team traveled to Girard to compete in a fun-filled day of cornhole competition! The energy was high, the tosses were on point, and our athletes brought their best to every match.
Everyone had an amazing time cheering each other on — and several even brought home some well-earned hardware! We’re so proud of their effort, teamwork, and Jacket Pride on full display.

This event gave students the opportunity to explore their postsecondary options, apply early for scholarships and housing, and work toward the goal of submitting at least three college applications. We’re proud of our seniors for taking the next step toward their futures!

Missed picture day? Not thrilled with your first shot? Tomorrow’s your do-over! Come camera-ready and rock that Jacket smile.

The Jackets will open play against Cherryvale as they look to bring energy, focus, and teamwork to every set. The tournament features a strong field of teams — Humboldt, Eureka, Cherryvale, Neodesha, Bluestem, and Caney — setting the stage for a full afternoon of competitive volleyball.
Come out and cheer on our Lady Jackets as they battle it out on the court and showcase that signature Jacket Pride!

Let’s fill the stands PINK and cheer loud as our girls take the court! The first game starts in the Main Gym, with the remaining matches continuing in the Auxiliary Gym — so no matter where you are, bring the energy and the love!
Together, we spike for strength, serve for hope, and play for a cure.
