Dress Code
Fredonia High School’s dress code is designed to encourage all students to set a standard that is reasonable and a credit to everyone that is part of our school.  It is important that students dress in a way that shows respect for themselves, their peers and their school’s reputation for excellence.  Proper dress in school enhances the learning environment and prepares students for the adult world.
The appropriateness of any clothing item is subject to the judgment of administrators.

1.    Shoes, sandals, boots or acceptable “flip-flops” must be worn.  No bedroom type slippers are allowed except on designated days.
2.    Clothing with offensive slogans or pictures or explicit/implied meanings is unacceptable.
3.    Clothing promoting or advertising drugs, alcohol and/or tobacco is unacceptable.
4.    The hemline of any garment shall be sewn, show no undergarments and leave no doubt as to the decency of the outfit. The hemline shall be no higher than the fingertips of the wearer when the wearer’s arms are hanging down the wearer’s sides.
5.    Spandex shorts/pants worn alone, tank tops with straps less than three fingers wide, sundresses, halter tops, midriff shirts, open mesh, sagging pants, transparent garments, oversize armhole shirts and spaghetti straps without a shirt underneath are not allowed at school.  Necklines will be of an acceptable style.  If undergarments/back/midriff are revealed during any activity in which the student is engaged, the garment is unacceptable.
6.    PE clothes may only be worn during physical education class.
7.    “PJs” may be worn only on designated days.

Weapons
A student shall not knowingly possess, handle, or transmit any object that can reasonably be considered a weapon at school or at a school sponsored event.  This shall include any weapon, any item being used as a weapon or destructive device, or any facsimile of a weapon.  By Kansas law, a student in possession of a weapon on school property is subject to a one-year expulsion and possible suspension of his/her driver’s license.  Any such item confiscated from a student will not be returned.
